Testimony of Gordon B Hinckley at Preston, England

I came across this video of President Gordon B Hinckley speaking in Preston, England in May 2005.  According to person who uploaded the video, in this excerpt we can listen to President Hinckley’s final testimony given in the British Isles.   He passed away Sunday 27th Jan 2008, some two and a half years later.

President Gordon B Hinckley was “my” Prophet for most of my time in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints…so far.  Ezra Taft Benson was President when I was baptized in 1993 and died in May 1994.  Howard W Hunter was next but didn’t survive long enough for me to really get to know him either, with his death in March 1995.

By then I had heard many, many talks by President Hinckley and really liked him.  Despite a couple of years in the Church I hadn’t actually learned about how the next leader is chosen and was excited when he took over.

We got to enjoy President Hinckley’s leadership of the Church for nearly thirteen years and I had become accustomed to him always being there.  President Gordon B Hinckley was the Prophet under whose leadership I gained much of my testimony.

I had even longer to get used to President Thomas S Monson and I love him dearly.  I sustain him wholeheartedly and look forward to hearing him speak at every conference for quite some time yet.

In fact, I’ve kind of matured in the past couple of years.  I attend or watch-at-home a lot more conference sessions than I used to and kind of look forward to all the speakers now.

Anyway…I challenge you to keep your eyes dry as you watch President Gordon B Hinckley’s testimony.
